Walmart Supply Chain continued their annual essay contest and sponsored the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Project for 2023. They have stated, “This essay project is one way to inspire young people to continue Dr. King’s legacy of advocating freedom, justice, and equality as we seek to find new meaning and application of fulfilling the ‘Dream.’ Sonora’s newly-established mission statement is to create a “safe place for ALL to realize their potential and learn at high levels.” Chelsea Jennings stated that, “Promoting equity, as Dr. King championed, is critical to us successfully achieving our mission, and I appreciate that this contest allowed for student voice in that pursuit.” This is the first in a very long time that Sonora Middle School has participated in this contest. Thank you Walmart Supply Chain and Debbie Hodges, Vice President over the division.
